Used Tudor in Athens: Black Bay, Pelagos & the Sensible Choice

GrecoWatch title card: Used Tudor in Athens

In short: GrecoWatch sells pre-owned Tudor in Athens, including the Black Bay 58, Black Bay, Pelagos and Black Bay GMT, plus Ranger, 1926 and Royal pieces when they come in. Before any Tudor is offered, our watchmaker checks which movement is inside, pressure-tests the divers and confirms originality. Viewings are private and by appointment at Spyrou Merkouri 4.

Tudor was founded by Hans Wilsdorf, the man behind Rolex, to offer Rolex-grade reliability at a lower price. For decades that made it “the cheaper Rolex”. It isn’t anymore. Over the past decade Tudor has built its own movements and its own design language, and produced watches like the Black Bay 58 that people buy for their own sake. On the pre-owned market that translates into something simple: a serious watch, often with an in-house movement, at a far more reachable price.

This page covers the Tudor models we handle, the generation question that matters most when buying, and what we check before any Tudor is offered.

Which Tudor models are worth buying pre-owned?

  • Black Bay 58. 39mm, vintage-inspired, and since its launch in 2018 the most wanted Tudor of its generation. Our Black Bay 58 guide covers it in detail.
  • Black Bay. The larger 41mm original and its colour variants, the more modern-wearing sibling.
  • Pelagos. Titanium, professional-grade, and the most tool-like watch Tudor makes.
  • Black Bay GMT, plus selected Ranger, 1926 and Royal pieces when they come through our hands. Our note on the Tudor Royal 40mm shows how much the movement inside changes the value.

Our collection changes constantly. Viewings are private and by appointment, and with Tudor more than most, try before you buy: how the watch sits on your wrist decides more than the specification sheet.

Does an in-house or ETA movement change a Tudor’s price?

Since 2015, Tudor has moved its core models, Black Bay and Pelagos included, to its own manufacture calibres, with a power reserve of around 70 hours. Earlier models, including the first Black Bays, used ETA-based movements. Both are good. The ETA is simple and cheap to service almost anywhere; the in-house calibre runs longer between windings and is built to a more modern specification. What matters is that the price reflects which one you are getting. A seller who can’t tell you which generation a Tudor is shouldn’t be the one setting its price.

What we check on a Tudor

Every piece passes through our master watchmaker, who has more than 50 years at the bench, before it is offered:

  • Movement and generation. Exactly which calibre is inside, and whether it matches the reference.
  • Water resistance, tested. Black Bays and the Pelagos are divers, and we only sell them as divers once they have proved it on the pressure tester.
  • Bracelet and clasp. Wear, stretch and, on newer models, whether the T-fit clasp’s quick adjustment works as it should.
  • Originality. Dial, snowflake hands, bezel and case, so the watch is what its reference says it is, with no undeclared replacement parts.

Anything that needs work is done in our workshop with original parts only, and every service carries a written 2-year warranty.

Tudor or Rolex?

The honest answer: if you want the crown, no Tudor will replace it, and you shouldn’t try to make one. If you want a watch from the same family, built to very similar standards, just as comfortable to wear and leaving real room in the budget, Tudor is the most sensible answer the market has. If you are weighing the two, our page on buying a used Rolex in Athens covers the other side.

Trading or selling a Tudor

We buy, sell and trade Tudor as readily as Rolex. How we value one is explained on our page about selling a Tudor in Athens.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tudor hold its value?

Better than most brands at its price, especially the Black Bay 58 and the Pelagos. It doesn’t have Rolex’s stability, but it has a much lower entry point and healthy demand when you come to sell.

Older Black Bay with ETA, or newer with in-house?

Either, for different reasons. The ETA can be serviced cheaply almost anywhere, indefinitely; the in-house calibre gives you around 70 hours of power reserve and a more modern specification. The price should reflect the generation, so check that first.

Do you service Tudor?

Yes, with a written 2-year warranty and original parts only. We are an independent specialist, not an authorised Tudor service centre, so a watch still under factory warranty should go to Tudor’s own network first.

Can you find a model you don’t have listed?

Usually. Tell us the reference, dial and generation you want, and we’ll look for it through our network.
