Used Omega in Athens: Speedmaster, Seamaster & Smart Buying

GrecoWatch title card: Used Omega in Athens

In short: GrecoWatch sells pre-owned Omega in Athens: Speedmaster Moonwatch, Seamaster Diver 300M, Planet Ocean, Aqua Terra and vintage pieces when they come in. Every watch is inspected by our watchmaker before it is offered, and every diver is pressure-tested in our workshop. Viewings are private and by appointment, and we ship fully insured worldwide.

On the pre-owned market, Omega is where serious watchmaking costs noticeably less. A Speedmaster carries a history no other chronograph can claim, a Seamaster holds its own against any diver in its class, and an Aqua Terra does everything an everyday watch needs to do, usually for well under the price of the equivalent Rolex. The catch is the size of the range. Two watches with the same name on the dial can be very different things, and the price should know the difference even when the listing doesn’t.

This page covers the Omega lines we handle, what to check on each, and how to buy in Athens or from abroad.

Which Omega, and which version

  • Speedmaster Moonwatch. Flight-qualified by NASA in 1965 and worn on the Moon in 1969. Here the details decide the value: hesalite crystal or sapphire, and which generation of manually wound movement is inside. Hesalite is the traditional choice; sapphire trades some of that character for scratch resistance. Neither is wrong, but you should know which one you are being offered.
  • Seamaster Diver 300M and Planet Ocean. Omega’s professional divers. Current versions use Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements, tested by the Swiss federal metrology institute METAS for accuracy and resistance to magnetism.
  • Aqua Terra. The one Omega that does everything, and often the most sensible first luxury watch for someone who means to wear it daily.
  • Constellation and vintage. Vintage Speedmasters, Seamasters and Constellations appear when they come through our hands. With these, originality is everything: an untouched dial is worth far more than a refinished one.

Our collection changes constantly and Omega pieces tend to move quickly, so if you don’t see what you want, ask. Viewings are private and by appointment.

How is a pre-owned Omega checked before sale?

Every watch is inspected by our master watchmaker, who has more than 50 years at the bench, before it is offered. On an Omega, these are the points that matter:

  • Movement against reference. The calibre should match the reference and the year. Vintage Speedmasters in particular attract watches assembled from the wrong parts, the quiet risk of the whole category.
  • Dial and hands. Moisture marks, relumed hands or a replacement “service dial” all change a vintage Omega’s value, sometimes by more than the gap between two references.
  • Water resistance on every Seamaster. We pressure-test every diver we sell in our own workshop. A depth rating printed on the dial means nothing if the gaskets haven’t been checked since the case was last opened.
  • Co-Axial movements. Omega’s modern calibres are excellent, but they need proper servicing with genuine parts. We check rate and power reserve before sale and ask for the service history.

Anything that needs work is done first in our workshop, with original parts only and a written 2-year warranty on every service.

Rolex or Omega?

It is the comparison we are asked about most. The short, honest version: a Rolex holds its value more steadily; an Omega gives you more watch for the money and much shorter waits on the popular models. If you want the crown and can afford it, buy the Rolex, or you will keep thinking about it. If you want the best watch your budget can buy, the Omega often wins. Our page on buying a used Rolex in Athens covers the other side of the decision.

Trading or selling an Omega

Your Omega can become the deposit on your next watch, or simply cash. We buy, sell and trade, and the valuation is made in front of you, with reasons rather than a flat figure. More on that on our page about selling an Omega in Athens.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Speedmaster hold its value?

The classic Moonwatch has one of the steadiest records in Omega’s range. It isn’t a Daytona in scarcity, but it doesn’t cost Daytona money either. Limited and special editions have to be judged one by one.

Is a pre-owned Seamaster safe to swim with?

Yes, provided it has passed a pressure test since the case was last opened. Every diver we sell has been tested in our workshop.

Do you service Omega, including Co-Axial movements?

Yes, with a written 2-year warranty and original parts only. We are an independent specialist, not an authorised Omega service centre, so a watch still under factory warranty should go to Omega’s own network first.

Do you always have Omega in stock?

No. Stock changes from week to week. If the model you want isn’t listed, tell us the reference and we’ll look for it through our network.

Looking for a particular Omega? Browse the collection, or tell us the reference and we’ll tell you honestly what is realistic.
