In short: GrecoWatch buys, sells and sources pre-owned Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet in Athens, including Nautilus, Aquanaut, Calatrava, Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore. Every piece is opened and checked at movement level by our watchmaker. Viewings are private and by appointment at Spyrou Merkouri 4. Tell us the reference you want and we will look for it.
At the top of watchmaking, the normal rules stop working. You can’t walk into a boutique and buy a steel Nautilus or Royal Oak; the waiting lists run for years, and at some boutiques it is the client who is chosen, not the watch. For the most wanted references, the pre-owned market is in practice the only way in. At this level, who you buy from matters more than the price, because a mistake is measured in thousands.
This page explains how we work with the two houses in Athens: what we handle, how we authenticate, and how we buy.
Which Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet models can you buy in Athens?
- Patek Philippe. Nautilus and Aquanaut, Calatrava, and complications, from the steel sports models to the dress watches that defined the genre. The Nautilus 5711 was retired in 2021, which has only made good examples harder to find.
- Audemars Piguet. Royal Oak across generations and sizes, from the 39mm “Jumbo” to the 41mm, 37mm and 34mm, plus the Royal Oak Offshore and selected Code 11.59.
Availability at this level changes constantly, so our collection shows a moment rather than the full picture. Much of this work is sourcing. Tell us the reference, dial and budget, and we’ll answer realistically rather than with promises.
How are Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches authenticated?
The higher the value, the better the fakes. Today’s “super clones” of the Nautilus and Royal Oak are good enough to fool photographs and hurried eyes. Our answer has not changed:
- Inspection at movement level. Every piece is opened and examined by our master watchmaker, who has more than 50 years at the bench. The hand-finishing of a genuine Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet calibre (the bevelled edges, the Geneva stripes, the polished screw heads) is where copies fall down, because it takes hours of skilled work no counterfeiter can afford to spend.
- Numbers and papers, cross-checked. Case and movement numbers against each other and against the accompanying documents. For Patek Philippe, an Extract from the Archives can confirm when a watch was made and sold, and we’ll tell you when one is worth requesting.
- No “probably genuine”. If a watch doesn’t convince us completely, it doesn’t go on sale, however attractive the price.
Why does the bracelet matter on a Nautilus or Royal Oak?
On both the Nautilus and the Royal Oak, the integrated bracelet is part of the design, not an accessory. Stretched links, worn pins and a tired clasp take real money off the price, and restoring them is not cheap. We check the bracelet as carefully as the case. Our guide to bracelet stretch explains how to spot it yourself.
Selling a Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet
We buy as well as sell, and discreetly. The valuation is made with the watch in front of us and the reasoning explained, and the transaction closes however suits you: outright purchase, trade, or a combination. Nothing is published or shared without your consent. The detail is on our pages about selling a Patek Philippe and selling an Audemars Piguet in Athens.
Service
Our workshop takes on Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet with original parts only, full documentation, and a written 2-year warranty on every service. We are an independent specialist, not an authorised service centre for either house, so a watch still under factory warranty should go to the official network first.
Frequently asked questions
Why buy a pre-owned Nautilus or Royal Oak instead of waiting for the boutique?
Because for the most wanted steel sports models the wait can’t be measured, and for many buyers it will never end. The pre-owned market is the realistic route. You pay the difference in price; in return, the watch exists, here and now.
How often do you have pieces available?
The flow is real but not predictable; that is the nature of this level. The best approach is to tell us what you are looking for, and we’ll contact you first when it appears.
Can I see a watch privately before deciding?
Yes. Viewings are private and by appointment at Spyrou Merkouri 4, and nothing about your visit is shared.
My watch has the box but no papers. Will you look at it?
Yes. Missing papers don’t rule a watch out, but they are reflected in the valuation and call for a stricter technical inspection. That inspection is what we do.
Viewings and enquiries: tell us the reference you are looking for, or the one you are thinking of selling. The conversation stays private.
