The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Celebration: the most cheerful Rolex dial

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Celebration 124300 in its box with the guarantee card and the green seal

A Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Celebration has just come into our shop in Pangrati: a 2024 watch in like-new condition, with its full set. It is not the first one we have sold, and every time one passes through, the reaction is the same. People who came in to look at a Submariner end up asking about the blue watch with the coloured bubbles.

What the Celebration dial is

Rolex introduced the Celebration dial in 2023 for the Oyster Perpetual. The base is turquoise blue lacquer, and scattered across it are bubbles in the colours of the lacquer dials Rolex gave the Oyster Perpetual in 2020: pink, yellow, red, green and turquoise. Some bubbles sit behind the hour markers, some overlap each other, and no two areas of the dial look the same. It was made in all four sizes of the collection, 41, 36, 31 and 28 mm. The watch here is the 41 mm, reference 124300.

The watch underneath

Under the colours it is a serious Rolex. The 41 mm case is Oystersteel with a smooth domed bezel, water resistant to 100 metres. Inside is the calibre 3230, Rolex's own automatic movement with the Chronergy escapement, a blue Parachrom hairspring and about 70 hours of power reserve, tested to Rolex's Superlative Chronometer standard. There is no date, which leaves the whole dial to the bubbles, and the Oyster bracelet closes with an Oysterclasp.

Who it suits

The Celebration is for someone who already knows what a Rolex is and wants one that does not take itself too seriously. At 41 mm it wears like a sports watch, and its colours work as well with a white shirt as with a T-shirt in summer. If you prefer something smaller, the same dial exists in 36 mm.
