The Rolex Yacht-Master was built for sailors, not divers, and the bezel shows it: it turns in both directions, with a raised 60-minute scale for timing the leg between two buoys. Every pre-owned Yacht-Master we offer in Athens is inspected by our master watchmaker before sale. Listings with a price are in stock. Those marked "Price upon request" are references we can source to order, so tell us which one you want.

Buying a Pre-Owned Rolex Yacht-Master in Athens

Start with the reference, because the Yacht-Master has changed more than its looks suggest. The 40mm Rolesium model, steel with a solid platinum bezel, runs from ref. 16622 (1999) to 116622 (2012), both on calibre 3135, and then to 126622 (2019), which moved to calibre 3235 with about 70 hours of power reserve. The platinum dial belongs to the 16622 and 116622, and the 116622 was also offered in blue and dark rhodium. The 126622 dropped the platinum dial and came only in blue or dark rhodium, which Rolex now calls slate. The 37mm Rolesium 268622 runs on calibre 2236. The Everose Rolesor 126621 pairs Oystersteel with a solid Everose gold bezel, calibre 3235 and the dial Rolex calls chocolate.

The line began in 1992 with the yellow gold ref. 16628. In 2015 the Everose ref. 116655 became the first Rolex on an Oysterflex bracelet, later updated as 126655 with calibre 3235. The 42mm models followed in white gold (226659, 2019), yellow gold (226658, 2022) and RLX titanium (226627, 2023). The Yacht-Master II is a separate instrument, a 44mm regatta chronograph: first-generation pieces use calibre 4161 and a Ring Command bezel, while the 2026 generation, refs. 126680 and 126688, uses calibre 4162 and runs its countdown from the pushers. Movement, dial and bezel should all agree with the reference.

  • Turn the bezel both ways. It should click positively in each direction; stiffness, slipping or turning in one direction only means it needs attention.
  • On solid platinum and solid Everose bezels, look for dents and refinishing. The raised numerals should be crisp and polished against an even sandblasted background.
  • On Oysterflex models, check the elastomer near the lugs and clasp for cuts, cracks or exposed metal blade, and run the Glidelock extension through its full range of about 15mm.
  • Screw the Triplock crown down and make sure it seats smoothly. The rating is 100 m, so with no known service history, have the watch pressure-tested before it goes near water.
  • On a first-generation Yacht-Master II, run the whole Ring Command sequence: set a countdown of up to 10 minutes, start, stop and reset it, and confirm the hand returns to the programmed minute. A Ring Command bezel on a 126-series Yacht-Master II would be wrong.

Rolex Yacht-Master Questions

Is the Rolex Yacht-Master a dive watch?

No. The Rolex Yacht-Master is a sailing watch. It is water resistant to 100 m with a Triplock screw-down crown, but its bezel turns in both directions and carries a raised 60-minute scale for timing intervals on the water, such as the leg between two buoys. The Submariner's bezel, by contrast, turns one way only.
