Pre-Owned Rolex Submariner in Athens
On a pre-owned Rolex Submariner, the reference, dial, bezel and calibre must all agree, and our master watchmaker checks that they do on every Submariner we offer in Athens before sale. Rolex launched the Submariner in 1953 as its first divers' wristwatch waterproof to 100 metres. Today's Submariner and Submariner Date are rated to 300 metres, with a unidirectional 60-minute bezel and a Triplock crown. Listings with a price are in stock with us in Pangrati. Those marked "Price upon request" are references we can source to order, not watches on the shelf.

Buying a Pre-Owned Rolex Submariner in Athens
The reference number tells you what should be inside the case, so we start there. Five-digit Submariners, such as the 16610 Submariner Date and the no-date 14060 and 14060M, carry aluminium bezel inserts and Calibres 3135, 3000 and 3130 respectively. From 2010 the 116610LN and 116610LV brought the Cerachrom bezel and the broader 'Super Case' to steel, at 40 mm with 20 mm lugs, and the no-date 114060 followed in 2012. The 2020 generation, 124060 and 126610LN, grew to 41 mm with 21 mm lugs and moved to Calibres 3230 and 3235 respectively, with about 70 hours of power reserve.
The green bezels need the closest reading, because three different watches carry the LV suffix. The 16610LV pairs a black dial with a green aluminium insert, the 116610LV a green dial with a green Cerachrom bezel, and the 126610LV a black dial with green Cerachrom. Collectors often call them Kermit, Hulk and Starbucks, but these are nicknames, not Rolex names. The 126613LB in yellow Rolesor should show a royal blue dial, a blue Cerachrom bezel and Calibre 3235. Any mismatch between reference, dial, bezel and calibre points to swapped parts or a fake.
- Match the calibre to the reference: 3230 in a 124060, 3235 in a 126610LN, 126610LV or 126613LB, 3135 in a 16610 or 116610, and 3130 in a 114060 or 14060M.
- On a 16610LV, look at the 4 on the bezel insert. Early examples, with Y or F serials, came with a 'Flat 4'. Rolex replacement inserts are 'Sharp 4', so a Sharp 4 on an early serial points to a service replacement, which affects collector desirability.
- Turn the bezel. It should move one way only with a positive click, and the lume pip at zero should be present. Check Cerachrom inserts for chips and aluminium inserts for fading or replacement.
- Confirm the Cyclops and the lume. Date models carry a Cyclops over the date, the no-date 14060, 114060 and 124060 have none, and ceramic-era steel models such as the 116610, 114060 and 126610 should glow blue under Chromalight.
- On six-digit models and late 16610s, read the serial engraved on the rehaut at 6 o'clock. It should be crisp, evenly cut and match the warranty card.
What is the difference between the 126610LN and the 124060?
The date is the difference. The 126610LN is the Submariner Date, with Calibre 3235 and a Cyclops lens over the date. The 124060 is the no-date Submariner, with Calibre 3230 and no Cyclops. Otherwise they match: 41 mm Oystersteel, black dial, black Cerachrom bezel, 300 metres water resistance and about 70 hours of power reserve.
