Pre-Owned Rolex Deepsea in Athens
Rated to 3,900 metres, the Rolex Deepsea goes far deeper than any scuba diver can, thanks to the Ringlock case system Rolex introduced with it in 2008. Part of the Sea-Dweller family, it is also known as the Sea-Dweller Deepsea. Every pre-owned Deepsea we offer in Athens is inspected by our master watchmaker before sale. Listings with a price are in stock. Those marked "Price upon request" are references we can source to order, and we will give you the expected wait and price before you commit.
Buying a Pre-Owned Rolex Deepsea in Athens
The three steel Deepsea generations look alike across a counter, so the details on the watch have to confirm the reference on its papers. Ref. 116660, the first generation of 2008, runs calibre 3135 with about 48 hours of power reserve. Ref. 126660 replaced it in 2018 with calibre 3235 and 70 hours, plus redesigned lugs and a wider bracelet, differences that are easy to miss without the two side by side. Ref. 136660, announced in 2022, is a little easier to spot: a slightly slimmer bezel, a date window about 8% larger and an RLX titanium caseback, on a bracelet without the Fliplock extension.
The D-Blue dial, named in tribute to James Cameron's 2012 Mariana Trench dive, first appeared on the 116660 in August 2014. Two variants sit outside the steel references: the 18 ct yellow gold 136668LB, whose Ringlock compression ring is blue Cerachrom, and the 50 mm titanium Deepsea Challenge 126067, rated to 11,000 metres and driven by the time-only calibre 3230.
- Movement against reference. Calibre 3135 in a 116660, 3235 in a 126660, 136660 or 136668LB, and a no-date 3230 in a Challenge 126067. A mismatch points to swapped parts or a watch that is not genuine.
- Bracelet against generation. The 116660 and 126660 carry Glidelock and Fliplock, the 136660 Glidelock only. A 136660 with Fliplock, or an earlier watch without it, is wearing a bracelet that is not original to it.
- Caseback, valve and crown. The caseback is part of the Ringlock structure and should be titanium, never steel. The helium escape valve at 9 o'clock should be intact with no sign of tampering, and the Triplock crown at 3 o'clock should screw down smoothly.
- Crystal and ceramics. Expect a thick domed sapphire with no Cyclops over the date. Check the Cerachrom bezel insert for chips or cracks, and on the gold 136668LB the blue ceramic compression ring too. The unidirectional bezel should click crisply.
- Dial against papers. A 116660 D-Blue with papers dated before August 2014 is inconsistent and needs investigating, and the reference and serial on the watch should match the guarantee card.
Rolex Deepsea Questions
Is a pre-owned Rolex Deepsea still waterproof to 3,900 metres?
Not automatically. The 3,900 m rating, and 11,000 m on the Deepsea Challenge, describes a new watch. On a used or serviced example, ask for a recent pressure test, and confirm that the helium escape valve, Triplock crown and titanium caseback are original and undamaged. Service in our workshop uses only original parts and carries a written 2-year warranty.
