Pre-Owned Rolex Datejust in Athens
The Rolex Datejust, launched in 1945, was the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to show the date in a window at 3 o'clock, and Rolex created the Jubilee bracelet especially for it. Every pre-owned Datejust we offer in Athens is inspected by our master watchmaker before sale. Listings with a price are in stock; those marked "Price upon request" are references we can source to order, not watches we hold today.

Buying a Pre-Owned Rolex Datejust in Athens
Each Datejust reference should carry a specific calibre, and a mismatch is a warning sign. The four-digit ref. 1601 ran for around two decades on calibre 1565, later 1575. The 160xx generation that followed, such as the 16014, moved to calibre 3035 with quickset date and about 42 hours of reserve. The five-digit 162xx references and the six-digit 116234 use calibre 3135, with about 48 hours. The Datejust II of 2009 took the line to 41 mm on calibre 3136, and the 126xxx Datejust 36 and 41 run on calibre 3235, with about 70 hours and Superlative Chronometer certification.
Next, read the metal code. On five- and six-digit references the last digit gives the metal: 0 for stainless steel, 1 for Everose Rolesor (as on the six-digit 126331), 3 for Yellow Rolesor, 4 for White Rolesor, 8 for yellow gold. Rolex machines fluted bezels only from gold or platinum, so a five- or six-digit steel Datejust with a fluted bezel is White Rolesor and should end in 4, like the 16234 or 126334. A fluted bezel on a reference ending in 0 points to replaced or non-genuine parts, and flutes with soft, rounded edges usually mean heavy polishing.
- The Cyclops should magnify the date 2.5 times, with the numeral centred under the lens, and the date should change instantly at midnight.
- From calibre 3035 onward, the date should set through the crown without moving the hands.
- The case back should be solid, since a Datejust has no exhibition back.
- The serial should be crisply engraved and, like the reference, match the papers. On older cases it sits between the lugs at 6 o'clock; from the mid-2000s it is on the rehaut, the inner ring engraved "ROLEX ROLEX".
- The dial must be original and suit the reference, with clean printing, no typos, and markers and hands that fit the era.
- The Wimbledon, the market's name for a slate dial with green Roman numerals, appears on references such as the 116334, 126300, 126331 and 126334. On a reference never offered with it, the dial is not original to the watch.
- Rolex does not support aftermarket customisation, so ask the seller to confirm in writing whether any diamonds on the dial or bezel are factory-set or aftermarket.
- The bracelet should match the era: hollow end links and a stamped clasp on a 16014, five-piece links, an Oysterclasp and a 5 mm Easylink extension on a modern 126234 Jubilee.

Rolex Datejust: Common Questions
How often should a Rolex Datejust be serviced?
Rolex recommends servicing approximately every 10 years, depending on the model and how the watch is used. On a pre-owned Datejust, ask for the service history, check that the screw-down crown engages properly and have the case pressure-tested before trusting its water resistance. Our independent workshop services Datejusts with original parts only and a written 2-year service warranty.
Can I sell or trade in my Rolex Datejust in Athens?
Yes. We buy, sell and trade, so you can sell your Datejust outright or put it towards another watch. Send the reference, clear photos and any box, papers or service history on WhatsApp to +30 697 546 1445. Photos give us a first view; we confirm condition and authenticity only with the watch in hand, by appointment in Pangrati.
